Faith Cherotich Wins Gold: Glasgow 2026 Steeplechase Record

Kenya’s Faith Cherotich won the women’s 3,000-metre steeplechase at the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow in a Games-record time of 9:01.76.
Cherotich broke away in the closing stages
World Athletics reported that Cherotich made her decisive move late in the race and finished almost four seconds ahead of England’s Elise Thorner, who ran a personal best of 9:05.45. Uganda’s Peruth Chemutai took bronze in 9:09.96.
The official results show Kenya’s Celestine Jepkosgei Biwot finished seventh in 9:33.61. The result gave Kenya two athletes in the final and put Cherotich’s record time at the top of the event’s Glasgow standings.
