Two Former UDA Aspirants Join ODM in Kajiado Ahead of 2027
ODM National Chairperson Gladys Wanga received Gideon Mayian Saruni and Francis Ole Meja at the party’s Chungwa House offices on October 6, 2026, according to reports of the party event. The two had been associated with the United Democratic Alliance and said they intended to pursue ODM tickets in Kajiado County.
Saruni is seeking the party nomination for Kajiado West MP, while Meja is seeking the Mosiro ward MCA ticket. Joining ODM does not guarantee either man a nomination or a place on the ballot. They would still need to meet the party’s candidate-selection requirements and the applicable IEBC rules.
What the move tells voters
The announcement establishes that two aspirants changed party affiliation and are seeking ODM nominations. It does not show that Kajiado voters as a whole have shifted support to ODM. That question will depend on broader evidence, including the party’s local organisation, the nomination process and ultimately election results.
Residents can assess prospective candidates by asking about their public record and specific plans for local needs such as water, roads, health services and land administration. Those issues are more useful for evaluating candidates than treating an individual party switch as proof of a countywide political trend.
