Sichenje Strikes Late as AFC Leopards Edge Kenya Police 2-1 at Nyayo

NAIROBI, Thursday, October 22, 2026 — Substitute Ronald Sichenje scored deep into stoppage time as AFC Leopards snatched a 2–1 victory over Kenya Police at Nyayo National Stadium on Tuesday.

Leopards appeared to be heading for a second consecutive draw before Sichenje found the winner, delivering the club’s first victory of the 2026/27 Premier League season.

After a goalless first half, Kevin Luke Otiala gave Leopards the lead shortly after the break. Former Harambee Stars striker Elvis Rupia then brought Kenya Police level to set up a tense finish.

With both teams chasing the decisive goal, Sichenje’s late intervention settled the contest in favour of Ingwe.

The victory moved Leopards to four points from their opening two matches after a scoreless draw with Bandari in their first outing. Kenya Police remained without a win, having started their campaign with a 1–1 draw against Migori Youth.

The result was followed the next day by the departure of Police head coach Nicholas Muyoti and assistant John Baraza. The club said the pair had been released to pursue CAF A coaching courses and disputed suggestions they had been sacked.

For Leopards, Tuesday’s result provided early encouragement after a difficult season opener, with the next league fixture offering an opportunity to build on the win.
