Trans Nzoia Farm Worker Stephen Ndungu Dies After Phone Dispute

Stephen Ndungu, a 22-year-old farm worker, died after a confrontation over a mobile phone in Tawai village, Wamuini sub-location, Trans Nzoia County, on August 24, 2026. The Directorate of Criminal Investigations said the argument escalated into a physical fight and Ndungu collapsed at the scene.

Police arrested 21-year-old Samuel Kemboi in connection with the death, according to the Kenya Broadcasting Corporation and reports citing the DCI. The allegations have not been tested in court. Kemboi is presumed innocent unless proven guilty.

The DCI account said Ndungu had begun farm work the day before the incident. His body was taken to Kiminini Cottage Mortuary for post-mortem examination. The sources linked below did not report a court outcome, so this article does not state that the investigation has concluded.
