Stephen Letoo Declares Kilgoris MP Bid on ODM Ticket; Formal Nomination Pending
By Shiled Jerono | Updated October 9, 2026
Journalist Stephen Letoo publicly declared his intention to contest the Kilgoris parliamentary seat on an Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) ticket at a rally in Narok County on August 29, 2026, according to contemporaneous reporting. This is a declared political bid, not a completed party nomination or IEBC clearance.
What has been reported
Tuko reported that Letoo announced the bid at Oldanyati Grounds and said he would run on the ODM ticket. Earlier reports had treated his party alignment as uncertain after he posted a message interpreted by some followers as a possible political realignment. The later rally declaration is the more direct public statement.
What remains undecided
Kenya’s 2027 party nomination and IEBC candidate-clearance processes have not been completed. Letoo’s declaration does not establish that he has won a party primary or been cleared to appear on the final ballot. A third-party civic listing currently labels him with a different party but explicitly marks the listing as unverified; it should not override a direct, reported declaration or be treated as an official candidate record.
