The British Army’s official nationality page currently says applications from Commonwealth residents are closed, except for Musician applicants. The Army has not published a reopening date. Kenyan citizens should check the official page before preparing an application or making travel plans.
What the Army says about the closed window
The Army says it received an unprecedented volume of applications in 2024 and is working through that pipeline. It says applications received during that recruitment window without a Recruit Bounty Scheme sponsor will be rejected. Applicants with an existing application should check their official application portal for updates.
The current exception
The official nationality page lists Musician applicants as the exception to the closed Commonwealth window. Applicants should confirm that the specific role is open and meet its published requirements before applying.
Avoid recruitment scams
Do not pay an agent or social-media account that promises a guaranteed place, visa or recruitment slot. Apply and verify the status only through the official British Army careers website. The Army says it will provide updates through the official application portal for people who already have an application.
