Kenya Railways’ Free Evening Ride Promotion Ran from October 7 to 9
Update — October 9, 2026: Kenya Railways’ three-day free-ride promotion ended on Friday, October 9. It is no longer available. This report records the offer and directs commuters to the railway’s current timetable and fares.
Kenya Railways and the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) offered free evening rides to a limited number of Nairobi Commuter Rail passengers from October 7 to 9, 2026, during Customer Service Week. The promotion was a short-term customer outreach activity; Kenya Railways did not announce that all services or future rides would be free.
Who the offer covered
Kenya Railways described the rides as available to a limited number of Nairobi Commuter Rail passengers. Its announcement did not say that every passenger, route or departure was included. The promotion should therefore be understood as a limited offer for the three dates, not a network-wide fare change.
KRA’s Customer Service Week programme listed “Ride With KRA” as a commuter outreach activity. The partnership did not change ordinary Kenya Railways timetables or fares beyond the promotion period.
Check current trains and fares
For travel after October 9, commuters should confirm their route, departure time and fare on Kenya Railways’ official passenger information pages before heading to a station. Do not rely on the expired promotion as a current discount.
