Kenyan Community Identifies Victor Kiprotich After Loganholme Crash

Kenyan community representatives identified Victor Kiprotich, a Brisbane resident, as the pedestrian who died after a crash on the Pacific Motorway near Loganholme in July 2026. Queensland Police’s public notice described the deceased as a 32-year-old man from Algester but did not name him; community statements gave his age as 33, leaving a one-year discrepancy between the accounts.

What Queensland Police reported

Queensland Police said the crash happened shortly before 7:15 p.m. on Sunday, July 19, near Loganholme. Their notice said a pedestrian attempted to cross the Pacific Motorway and was struck by two vehicles. He sustained critical injuries and died at the scene. Police said the Forensic Crash Unit was investigating.

How the victim was identified

A statement from the Berur Executive Committee, shared by Kenyan community leader Kiprono Hosea Kwaneet, identified the deceased as Victor Kiprotich and described him as a member of the Kenyan community in Queensland. The Kenyan Diaspora Media also reported the identification. Queensland Police’s public crash notice did not publish the victim’s name, so this article attributes the identification to those community sources.

The community account gave Kiprotich’s age as 33 and placed the crash at about 6 p.m.; the police notice described a 32-year-old man and gave a time shortly before 7:15 p.m. The available accounts do not explain the difference, so it remains unresolved here.
