ODM Gazette Notice 1157: Proposed Party Leadership Changes

A Kenya Gazette notice published on January 30, 2026 set out ODM’s intended changes to its national party officials and invited written submissions. The notice is evidence that proposed changes were filed with the Registrar of Political Parties; by itself, it does not prove that each proposed change became final or remains the party’s current leadership lineup.
What Gazette Notice No. 1157 proposed
The notice listed intended changes to a number of offices. It proposed Dr Oburu Oginga for party leader in place of Raila Amolo Odinga; Abdulswamad Sheriff Nassir for deputy party leader in charge of strategy; Paul Simba Arati for deputy party leader in charge of operations; and Gladys Nyasuna Wanga for national chairperson. It also listed proposed changes to other organizing, political-affairs and deputy-chairperson roles.
These are the names and roles in the notice. Readers should consult the Registrar’s current party records or a later official notice before treating the list as the present, final leadership.
The public-submission period has passed
The Registrar invited people with written submissions to respond within seven days of publication. That period has passed. The notice’s submission window was part of a formal registry process, not a continuing invitation to submit comments today. This article has not verified a later official notice recording the final status of every proposed change.
Why the distinction matters
A notice of intended changes, a party decision and an updated official party register are different records. The Gazette is the primary source for what was proposed and when submissions were invited; the Registrar’s subsequent records are needed to confirm later registration or corrections.
