Laurynhill Wambui Kimemia, 27, died after a two-vehicle crash near Balingup in Western Australia on September 28, 2026. Her family and members of the Kenyan community identified her as the woman named in local reports of the crash.
What authorities reported
Emergency services were called to South Western Highway at about 1pm after two vehicles collided. Police said a woman passenger died at the scene. A 35-year-old man suffered serious injuries and was taken to Royal Perth Hospital; the 18-year-old driver of the other vehicle was also taken to hospital with injuries that were not considered life-threatening. Major-crash investigators were examining the circumstances, and no cause should be inferred before their findings.
Family appeal and later update
A family-supported fundraiser asked for help with repatriation and funeral costs. A later report by Australia’s 7NEWS said Wambui’s injured partner had been discharged from hospital and was continuing his recovery at home. The family was still arranging to bring her remains to Kenya when that report was published. Fundraiser totals and arrangements can change, so readers should use the family’s current appeal for any latest update.
We extend our condolences to her family, friends and the Kenyan community mourning her loss.
