Agnes Ngetich Sets Women-Only Half Marathon World Record in Copenhagen
Agnes Ngetich won the women’s half marathon at the World Athletics Road Running Championships in Copenhagen on September 20, 2026, in 1:05:15—a women-only world record. The mark was one second faster than the previous record of 1:05:16 held by Peres Jepchirchir.
Kenya’s women win team gold
Veronica Loleo finished second in 1:06:05 and Daisilah Jerono placed fourth in 1:06:13. Their combined times gave Kenya the women’s team title in 3:17:33, ahead of the United States and Ethiopia.
The “women-only” label distinguishes this record from marks set in mixed races where men and women compete together. World Athletics lists Ngetich’s result as WRwo in the official results.
Kenya also takes the men’s team title
Nicholas Kipkorir won silver in the men’s race in 58:11. Gideon Rono, Alex Matata and Daniel Ebenyo finished fifth, eighth and ninth, helping Kenya secure the team title in 2:56:30.
