Six Arrested Over Robbery With Violence in Vipingo
By Daily Report KE | Updated October 1, 2026
Six suspects were arrested in Vipingo, Kilifi County, during an investigation into a violent robbery and burglary reported in Mtwapa on January 28, 2026, according to police accounts.
Quick Facts
- The arrests followed an intelligence-led operation in Vipingo.
- Police said the investigation was connected to a robbery and burglary reported in Mtwapa.
- Officers reported recovering mobile phones, identity cards, bladed weapons, cannabis and cash from two locations.
- Detectives obtained custodial orders to continue investigations before arraignment.
How the Arrests Were Made
Police said three suspects — Mustafa Majeza Juma, Bubbline Kitsao Kazungu and Abdul Mwatondo Matano — were arrested at a residence in Vipingo after detectives traced a group they believed had gone into hiding.
A search of the first residence reportedly yielded six mobile phones, eight national identity cards bearing different names, two Somali swords, two pangas and a cash-bail receipt. Investigators said the receipt was linked to a separate attempted robbery with violence case involving an outstanding warrant.
Second Location and Additional Arrests
Police said information obtained during questioning led detectives to another location, where three more suspects — Swale Mwarauka, Mohammed Juma and Hamisi Rama — were arrested.
At the second location, officers reported recovering 18 large rolls of cannabis sativa, a weighing scale and KSh7,000 in cash. Police described the cash as suspected proceeds of crime; that claim remained an allegation pending investigation and any subsequent court process.
What the Court Process Means
The six suspects were taken to Mtwapa Police Station, and detectives secured 14-day custodial orders to complete investigations. A custodial order allows investigators additional time while a suspect remains in lawful custody; it is not a finding of guilt.
The suspects were entitled to the presumption of innocence unless and until a court determined otherwise.
