Family identifies victim as Laurynhill Wambui

Laurynhill’s family and members of the Kenyan community in Australia identified her as the woman who died in the crash. A fundraiser created to help bring her remains back to Kenya says her partner was also injured and remained in hospital as the family asked well-wishers to pray for his recovery.

Her father, Ben Kimemia, also shared a public tribute describing the loss of his daughter at such a young age as devastating. He remembered Laurynhill as a source of joy, love and light to her family.

Who was Laurynhill Wambui?

Laurynhill had built a professional career in Western Australia in business systems and improvement roles. Her public professional profile lists experience with the Department of Mines, Petroleum and Exploration and earlier work in business systems analysis and data-focused roles.

A GoFundMe campaign has been launched to help cover the cost of repatriating Laurynhill’s remains from Australia to Kenya, as well as funeral and transport expenses. The appeal says the family’s priority is to bring her home so she can be laid to rest surrounded by relatives and loved ones.

The fundraiser also says further memorial arrangements in Australia will be communicated once they are confirmed.
